Repeatability is how often repeated runs of the same wording agree on whether a brand is named. Wording spread is the gap between the highest and lowest rate across wordings of one question. Medians across categories.
| Engine | Repeatability | Wording spread |
|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT | 100% | 0% |
| Gemini | 100% | 0% |
| Google AI Mode | — | 0% |

Methodology
Engines: 5 · Answers: 1,320
Methodology version 2026-10-v1. This release reports brand visibility and cited sources.
What was asked
- Engines: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode.
- Market: country US, language en, desktop results for Google surfaces.
- Period: 2026-10-15 to 2026-10-15, 1 run.
- 120 questions, each asked in 3 wordings (the original plus 2 paraphrases written once and frozen before the first run).
- ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini: each wording asked 3 times per run.
- Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode: each wording fetched once per run; repeating a results page adds cost and no information.
- Headline edition: 1320 successful answers to the original wording of 120 questions, from the latest complete run.
- Across all runs and wordings in this release: 3957 successful answers.
- No answer was left out for incomplete scoring.
Models observed
Models are the ones each engine reported in its response, not the ones requested.
- ChatGPT:
gpt-6-lunafrom 2026-10-15 to 2026-10-17 (3 days observed) - Gemini:
gemini-3.5-flash-litefrom 2026-10-15 to 2026-10-17 (3 days observed) - Perplexity:
perplexity/sonarfrom 2026-10-15 to 2026-10-16 (2 days observed)
How answers were scored
- Each answer was scored by Prominara's production brand extractor (model
gpt-5-mini, extractor version8cb682162c28:gpt-5-mini), the same one that scores customer answers. - A brand counts as named when the extractor quotes a passage from the answer that contains the brand and that quote is found verbatim in the answer text, or, when the extractor misses it, when the full brand name appears in the answer as a whole word.
- Brands whose name is an ordinary word (for example a bank called Current) are judged with a short note on what the brand is, and the whole-word fallback above is not applied to them, so the word alone never counts as a mention.
- A brand counts as cited when one of its domains appears among the answer's sources. Domains are used only for this; they are not used to decide whether a brand was named.
- "Visible" means named or cited.
- 0.0% of answers were longer than the extractor's 8,000-character window. 0.0% of mentions were found beyond it; for those, sentiment and recommendation are unknown and are left out of those rates.
Extraction accuracy
- 364 judgments across 5 engines, drawn in a seeded random order.
- cited: 90 of 91 agreed (98.9%)
- mentioned: 94 of 96 agreed (97.9%)
- recommended: 85 of 89 agreed (95.5%)
- sentiment: 85 of 88 agreed (96.6%)
How rates were computed
- Denominators count successful answers only. A failed request is missing data, not evidence of absence.
- When a Google AI surface did not appear for a query, that answer stays in the denominator: the absence is the observation.
- Headline rates use the original wording only, across all repetitions. Each paraphrase is reported separately and never pooled into one rate, because a different wording measures a different question.
- The all-engines figure is the average of the engines' own rates, so an engine asked more times (repetitions) does not weigh more than one asked once.
- 95% confidence intervals come from a bootstrap that resamples questions (2,000 resamples, fixed seed), because repeated answers to one question are not independent. Single-answer engines use a Wilson interval.
- Changes between runs are tested together: a change is reported only when it survives a Benjamini–Hochberg adjustment (false discovery rate 0.05) across all 0 changes tested in this release and its 95% interval excludes zero. 0 passed. P-values for this step use the bootstrap standard error (normal approximation).
- Noise floor: for each engine, how often repeated answers to the same wording agreed on whether a brand was named (median across questions), and the largest gap between wordings' rates.
Limitations
- Answers come from the engines' APIs. API models and settings may differ from the consumer apps people use.
- One market (US, en). Results may not hold elsewhere.
- The tracked brand list was chosen by Prominara; brands outside it appear only in the untracked-brands list.
- Engines change their models and retrieval without notice; the models observed are listed above.

Questions
What is AI visibility?
AI visibility is how often AI engines name, recommend or cite a brand when people ask them questions. This study measures it for B2B SaaS brands on 5 engines: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode.
Does this study cover industries other than B2B SaaS?
No. It covers B2B SaaS only: CRM, help desk, HR and payroll, project management, marketing automation, product analytics, sales prospecting, scheduling, accounting and finance software, and AI meeting assistants. Consumer brands and agencies are not included.
How was AI visibility measured?
Each category has 12 buyer questions, each asked in 3 wordings. ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini answered every wording 3 times; Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode were checked once. Headline rates use the original wording, and a hand-audited sample checks the brand scoring.
Which B2B SaaS brand has the highest AI visibility?
HubSpot in CRM software: it was named in 96% of AI answers, averaged across 5 engines (n = 132 answers to 12 questions). Every category has its own leader, shown in the tables on this page.
Do AI engines agree on which software to name?
Not always. QuickBooks was named in 56% of ChatGPT's answers about accounting and finance software and in 100% of Google AI Mode's.
How often is this study updated?
Every quarter. Each quarter's results become a new version at this same address, and earlier versions stay online with their original numbers.
